Mountain trail riding at it's best. Fort Valley Stable's Horse & Mule Campground is nestled in the Massanutten Mountains in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley and is surrounded by the George Washington National Forest. You will find over 80 miles of horseback riding trails that venture from dark hollows to mountain tops with spectacular views. You are sure to find terrain to compliment your riding experience. Bring your own horse or enjoy a guided trail ride on one of our gentle saddle horses. We have RV sites with water and electric hookups or if you are self contained or camp in a tent, you might enjoy one of our primitive sites. We also have waterfront cabins with kitchen and bathroom. Your horse or mule will be safe and secure in one of our 12' X 16' pipe corrals or one of our 1/4 acre paddocks. Bring your fishing pole and hook on to one of the 6 to 8 pound large mouthed bass in our three catch and release ponds. The campstore carries ice cream, soft drinks, souvenirs and limited tack supplies. Shenandoah Valley has many activities other than horseback riding to make your vacation memorable. The area is rich in civil war history and you will find battlefields as well as museums to visit. Antique shops, gift shops and art galleries welcome you in neighboring towns. You can enjoy music festivals and country fairs throughout the season. You might enjoy exploring one of the many caverns in the area or head to the South Fork of the Shenandoah River for canoeing, kayaking, rafting, tubing or fishing. The George Washington National Forest offers hiking and mountain biking and you will even find an ATV area just 3 1/2 miles down the road. Hunters will be pleased with the abundant deer population which is often witnessed on our guided trail rides as well as the black bear, wild turkey, grouse and small game such as raccoon, fox and squirrel. Spend a weekend or come for an extended vacation and enjoy all that Fort Valley Stable's Horse & Mule Campground, the George Washington National Forest and Shenandoah Valley have to offer.
